Start or Sit Week 13 2009

Quarterback Start or Sit Week 13

  • Start Vince Young TEN - Vinsanity on the loose once more. If you are hurting at QB, Vince has been very solid 5 straight weeks and the Titans are back in the playoff hunt.
  • Start Alex Smith SF - Has played the past 6 weeks and 5 of the games have been very productive. The Seahawks are showing themselves to be a very bad football team, and I think another solid outing is on the horizon.
  • Sit Joe Flacco BAL - 1 TD pass in the past 4 weeks. This brings back memories of the good old days with Trent Dilfer. The Flacco Bandwagon is officially broken.
  • Sit Jay Cutler CHI - If you drafted Cutler fairly high back in August, it is time to cut your losses and move on with your life. Has throw 20 INTs compared to only 16 TDs, and he has a 2:8 TD:INT ratio the past 3 weeks. I don't care that the Bears are playing the Rams, look for somebody else.

Running Back Start or Sit Week 13

  • Start Justin Forsett SEA - The 'Hawks fooled us last week by insisting that Julius Jones was healthy enough to start. Another epic performance by Forsett should keep Double J on the bench even when he is ready to play. Forsett is about the only thing going well in Seattle.
  • Start Chris Brown HOU - If you are desperate, Brown has been seeing double-digit touches and getting work down in the red-zone.
  • Start Laurence Maroney NE - 8 TDs in the past 6 games. Those of you that stuck with him through the rough stretches of Weeks 1-5 of the season have been handsomely rewarded. Do not bench him now.
  • Sit Marshawn Lynch BUF - He looks tough and menacing and an RB capable of putting up 100 yard games at will. Alas, he is like a wolf in sheep's clothing. A wolf that really sucks and disappoints you on a weekly basis.
  • Sit Jonathan Stewart CAR - Averaging around 50 yards a game since the calendar hit November, he should no longer be looked at as anything more than a desperation play.
  • Sit Ryan Grant GB - Rarely comes up big. Packers are more likely to try and win through the air and ride the hot-hand of Rodgers than let Grant consistently get stuffed for minimal gains.

Wide Receiver Start or Sit Week 13

  • Start Jeremy Maclin PHI - Becomes the apple of Donovan McNabb's eye with D.Jackson likely on the shelf in Week 13.
  • Start Anquan Boldin ARZ - Kurt Warner is set to return and the Cards won't be able to run much on the Vikes, so I'd expect Warner to chuck the ball at least 35-40 times.
  • Start Hines Ward PIT - I don't care that Ward will draw the Raiders top coverage. The Steelers' backs are against the wall, and nothing like a win and a move to 7-5 to keep playoff hopes alive and bring some unity back to the locker room.
  • Sit Steve Smith CAR - QB problems abound. Matt Moore gets a turn at whipping boy. If you are deep at WR and/or only need to start 2, I'd give Smith the week off.
  • Sit Nate Burleson SEA - As discussed, the Seahawks are bad. Nate Burleson is not a young RB named Justin Forsett. I would avoid.
  • Sit Roy Williams DAL - Roy is back to doing nothing again. I think the Cowboys ride into the playoffs on the backs of Barber, Witten and Austin and Roy is just an after-thought.

Tight End Start or Sit Week 13

  • Start Tony Gonzalez ATL - Matt Ryan out, Chris Redman in. Tough Philly DF. I see Redman keeping things close and a 7 or 8 reception day for Gonzo.
  • Start Greg Olsen CHI - Olsen is the Bears best WR, and the Rams are bad enough to allow somebody to have a big game.
  • Sit Heath Miller PIT - 4 bad games out of the last 5. Raiders have been tough against opposing TEs.
  • Sit Jermichael Finley GB - Exceptional pre-season stats no longer count. He has had one big game this year. It is Week 13 now. Christmas time is right around the corner. It is time to let him go like that Kate Winslett did to Leonardo at the end of Titanic. She just hogged that door or whatever she was floating on and let poor Leonardo sink to the ocean floor - which is what Finley is likely doing to your fantasy team.

Defense Start or Sit Week 13

  • Start Chargers SDG - They play the Browns.
  • Start Bears CHI - They play the Rams.
  • Sit Colts IND - I'm staying out of the way of Vince Young and the Titans right now. The Colts started off the season pretty well, but have done nothing much lately.
  • Sit Cardinals ARZ - I'm also staying out of the way of the Brett Favre Express. Vikes could hang 35 points in the desert.

Kicker Start or Sit Week 13

  • Start Shayne Graham CIN - Lions giving up 2nd-most fantasy points to kickers.
  • Sit Billy Cundiff BAL - Cundiff has solidified the Raven kicking game, but the Packers are the best in the business at shutting-down those that try to put the ball through the uprights.
